I received an awesome job offer yesterday! The position would provide me with valuable experience directly related to my career goals. There are not many jobs that offer what this job offers.
I have one major reservation. While interviewing, I realized that the majority of the people that work at the company are staunch Republicans. I mean, there are a couple of Rush Limbaugh types running around there; and, the head of my department is one of them. Outside of their political views they seem like perfectly nice people; but, even in the interview process a few things were said that rubbed me the wrong way. Oh, did I mention that I am a steadfast Democrat. I'm not a tree hugger, but I did spend several days during the last Presidential campaign knocking on doors in support of Obama.
Even though this is kind of the perfect job, I'm not sure I should take it. Can I work with people whose personal values I really don't believe in?
If I do take the job should I let people know where I stand on the issues or fake that I am a Republican? If I don't, will it hurt my ability to advance within the company?
I'm not sure what to do. Help!
