What advice would you give to a student who wanted to follow in your footsteps
Advice I would give to a student who wanted to follow in my footstep is (1) to make sure they are always a leader and to never follow the crowd. I believe a lot of students whether they are in grade school or high school face the problem of wanting to be in the "in crowd" and trying to fit in. I advise students of all ages to never follow the in crowd and to always be their own person. I encourage them to make independent decisions, and to never give into peer pressure. Also, I believe one should be aiming to be successful and to always have standards and goals. The key to success is preparation. And the key to preparation is starting strong and planning. Following the "in crowd" is immature and is the not so smart mentality of a student who is college bound and who wants to be successful. Following the "in-crowd", typically lead people in the wrong direction and they find themselves in bad situations. I believe people truly can learn from their mistakes but nobody likes learning the hard way. Following the "in-crowd" puts you in a place where one have to recover from a situation, and that is the opposite of starting strong and getting a head start.
